EFF Unveils New Leadership Lineup Amid Controversy

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has announced its new leadership lineup, with Julius Malema at the helm as President. Malema is joined by Godrich Gardee as Deputy President, Nontando Nolutshungu as National Chairperson, Omphile Maotwe as Treasurer General, Marshall Dlamini as Secretary-General, and Leigh-Ann Mathys as Deputy Secretary General.

However, not everyone is pleased with the new lineup. Many EFF supporters are disgruntled with the party for not giving Mbuyiseni Ndlozi a chance at a top position. Ndlozi, a popular and influential figure within the party, was overlooked in the leadership elections. “It’s going to happen, it’s happening without him. He’s not here and it’s not in our interest to entertain such nonsense. Not our interest, we’re dealing with political issues here of egoism,” Malema said.

Despite the controversy, Malema remains committed to rebuilding and strengthening the EFF. In a recent address, Malema emphasized the importance of defending, rebuilding, and advancing the struggle for economic freedom. This comes after the party suffered its first electoral decline since its formation in 2013.

The EFF has also faced challenges with the departure of key leaders, including Dali Mpofu and Floyd Shivambu. Their departure was particularly significant, as they left to join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

As the EFF moves forward with its new leadership, it remains to be seen how the party will address the concerns of its disgruntled supporters and rebuild its momentum in the face of recent challenges.
